student again!

If you are a lost nurse and you dont know where to go?
I told you there's lots of opportunities not just in the hospital

I have crossed this info in the internet, that the educational system
of the Philippines will change
from 10 years of elementary and Highschool
it will become 12 years now..
so I had this deep analysis that they will need then thousands of teachers..

I decided then to study again
I earned 21 units of Education subject (Education Course)
which they call SUPPLEMENTAL...
the subjects are not highly interesting (for me) but definitely essential <LOL>
I encountered theories like (you can cover your ears)

REALISM, IDEALISM, RECONSTRUCTIONISM,
ESSENTIALISM, PROGRESSIVISM and lots of -ISMS

Im eager to finish this course...Im not really a lazy student
so I really study hard...look at my grades

and now Im eligible to take the Licensure exam for teachers
(board exam again)

I just finished the supplemental course in just one semester
(really fast)...just this march 2012

the application is not really that hard...in fact the job was searching for me
while im still studying..that's how IN DEMAND the teachers are here in the philippines

much easier than finding a job as a nurse...(im really bitter dont I?)
well, not for the one who has "BACKER" or a relative from that hospital
just a week or so..you'll get hired..

and so I moved on...
now I got signed...

yeah right! Im a teacher now!

Did I just Betrayed my Degree!?
OF COURSE NOT
Im still a Nurse to everybody
this is just a shift
or maybe an upgrade
or maybe this is my true
calling or destiny..
we will never know
last 5 years ago...I planned to work in the hospital
now Im going to work in a school
TOTALLY DIFFERENT
this is how life made a joke on me..hahhaha

did I mentioned that I did have some friends while we study??

  1. Hi Clai,

This and your other recent posts about your recent change in career are excellent posts. You've chosen a very honorable profession (nursing) and even though that doesn't give you an option at the present time, the other very honorable profession you've chosen (teaching) will keep you actively engaged in mind and spirit. You are right, you've definitely not betrayed or failed your previous training as a nurse, and your position now wields a lot of power in terms of the impression you will make on youth. When I look back on all my teachers, they all are memorable (although a little harder to remember back in kindergarten) and some left a huge impression on me and probably helped put me onto the path I followed later in life. So never underestimate that, and you can take pride in it.

Another thing to think about is that at some later point in time, the job market might pick up again for nurses both within the Philippines and elsewhere in the world... a number of years back the U.S. was hiring a lot of Filipina nurses because of a shortage here. Still another thing to think about is that if you get a lot of experience in education, you might easily combine that with nursing and become an educator in nursing.

    1. Thanks Buzz! you have given me an idea for another path to choose..Life comes in many different ways..I thought I'll get stuck in the same job..but its really boring to do that..I guess, I have learned that I dont need to work for money, I need to live because experiences are more important for me.. priceless.

I'll try to be a great teacher for my students.
