I survived...

June 4, 2012
marks the start of the school year 2012-2013

things to do

- Morning Prayer
- Prepare Classroom
- Clean the Classroom (which i dont get why??)
we dont have any cleaners in the school...the indonesian sisters
told us that the teachers in indonesia, cleans the classroom....
unlike here in the philippines...I disagree, though im still doing it
I have no choice either...

- Prepare TV for film showing
- Greet parents and pupils in the gate
- Teach Prayer (the school has a morning prayer which I haven't memorized yet)
during the class, I was praying...I paused for about 5 seconds to recall the prayer
<that was embarassing>
-then we sang and play
-say our Prayer before the meal is served
-then took our break
-play again
-Closing prayer
-dissmissal
-teachers clean again the classroom and school
- record attendance
-log onto the teacher's diary
-do anecdotal record
-make visual aids for the lesson tomorrow
- closing prayer together with the sisters
-Me, go home

I usually fell asleep 30 min. right after I lay down in my bed..
but now..when I lay down at my precious bed...I instantly...
close my eyes and went directly...FAST...to Dream land

Besides the roles and duties I signed up for...
I also took the position as a Health Coordinator..
So I also made programs for Nutrition and Hygiene
Darn! I was so happy when I received that note
My Nursing License....ATLAST!!!! I was able to use it! :D
and that makes me feel better...

so there goes my weekdays...

my weekend goes to the review for board exam
although I should also give enough time for me to make lesson plans
atleast for the whole month of
July, August and September...
so that I'll be only bothering my modules for review...

BUSY BEE...ME....

I got to trim down my time blogging, I guess...
and a little time on facebook...
because...today...I was in front of the computer whole day
filling up the days where I used to be in front of the module..
that's why I dont like reviewing here in my house..
I wanted somewhere...where computer is unknown..
but I need it for lesson plan making and for my visual aids..
(internet addiction)

got to memorize the name of this kids...
though Im really tired...
I love playing with them........
as if im also a kid too...
but when i teach..
they obey me like a parent...

And that certain, aura...i dont posses
they can see that in me
they fear me sometimes...
so I make sure I was also a friend to them..

my words are authority to them..
so I make sure that Im not abusing it..
they are hear to learn...and I am paid to do that!

Teacher's update and an upcoming upgrade

Mickey Mouse Tries to welcome you to our school
the parents are starting to come by
and inquire to the newly built school

More paper works
When I was still a nurse in the hospital
we do have paper works...and those are for
legal aspects..simply writing what have you done
to the patient...

this time being a teacher...
instead of nursing care plan..what i make
is Lesson plan... there's a big difference
when it comes to concepts...but the format
and principles of doing it...is just the same

Thank God...Im blessed with creativity
because being a teacher
part of your role is prepare the classroom
and it includes decorations

See? I got piles....of papers
those are only for the month of June
the rest of the 9 months left..is to be followed
still on progress

If I would count how many times I've been in an
organizational charts..that would be twice
1st time = as a registered nurse for only 3 months
2nd time = as a teacher
and this time for one year...

And the first time I have ever encountered
the little sweet beings...
I really enjoyed playing with them...
during their enrollment...
I assessed their skills like
Identifying colors
counting numbers
writing letters
singing A,B,C.....Z

I am enjoying every bit
Im an able person
all around

I can sing
dance
draw
paint
fix computer
host
play piano
guitar
teach
heal
give health advice

I've gone so far...from graduation last 2 years...
I passed the Nursing Licensure Exam
and now...I have to pass
the Licensure exam for teachers...

Honestly..I feel like doubting my intelligence
that's why I tried to enroll for a review
i never had four years to study the theories
and concepts of education..and i have a lot more to learn

Board exam is on September 30, 2012
my major is Biological Science
not really far from Nursing right????
but this one is very broad
since its not only human
im dealing with but also
plants
animals
bacteria
chemistry
worms..
etc
etc
etc
etc

The Sunflower group

Saturday and Sunday was actually day offs for teachers..
but the Sisters / my bosses asked me to come today...
so I went..i thought it was something for the school..but it wasn't

We had a little meeting with some teenagers and early 20s ladies...
and then I learned that I was in charge for the music department..(oh boy!)
before we called our group SUNFLOWER...
we introduced ourselves..im glad i get to meet new friends

and so the sister told us that..they are forming the group
because there's no NUNS in the town...
so I guess they were looking out for someone...(not me)
who will be part of their congregation and mission...

I can join / help them with the mission...but I can't be a nun..
its final...oh no...I just hope I will not eat this words...

I dont know why?? maybe because I want to be a mother someday
oh gosh...what am i even saying..it gives me chills! X_X

day 4 of a new teacher

LET THE CHALLENGE begin...

one of the excitements of being a teacher...
is able to teach and hear you're students 'awe'
implying they understand...

I met the first enrollee today...
she's 5 years old and shy...she thought she was going to study today
I asked her if she likes to sing..
she said "NO" firmly...hahhaaha
(fun!)

Im in charge for MUSIC, RELIGION and COMPUTER
Music = confident
Computer = more confident
Religion = uh oh? (so help me God!)

The Sisters are really helping me a lot
they were from Indonesia and they dont speak tagalog fluently
so before nod for approval..I make sure, I relay again what they
are implying...
too many struggles, with communication...but its manageable..
plus I get to learn some Indonesian language too....

its really fun..even though i only work 1/2 day
I still learn...

tomorrow...the week wrap up!
I dont really feel like working..its like going to school and feeling like a student..

1st day at school

The day before the 1st day at school
me, my mom and my sister went to Rizal park

We went home so late..that I only had
6 hours to sleep before my first day
as a teacher...

The Next day / Big Day

Its summer so, we still dont get to teach..
this April and May will be all about preparation
for the whole school year...

these were my assignments:
- I'll teach (Computer, Music, Arts and Physical Education, Religion)
- each subjects has books...so i have 3 books to review
- Make 3 syllabus
- all subjects from the 3 books must have lesson plans (thats like hundreds of them)

YIKES!!! so being a teacher doesn't really mean
just talking in front of the students
all lessons should be prepared...
this time...my sense of creativity is being called for a challenge
I dont really worry at all...
why?
its because...arts, music, dance, sports and computer plus my knowledge
with God...is my PASSION...

so this is what they really call SATISFACTION...

Since its already Tuesday...and I already had my 2nd day
of work...all i did the whole time I was in school..is finish 3 syllabus..
for NURSERY, KINDERGARTEN 1-2 level

I have like 6 pending syllabus to make...

THE TRANSITION:
when I was a nurse I used to make Nursing Care Plan
being a teacher....Lesson Plan....

Meet my students..^_^

Education is a basic human right..
everyone deserves to learn
that's why its free to go to school and study...

I have this huge opportunity to teach High School students
from Abuyod National High School..
and I will remember it...until I die..

I asked the students what do they think are the
possible hindrances in their education....

(before I asked this question, I told everybody to raise
their hand if they were one of the sure students who will get
the chance to study in college)

guess how many? out of 50 students
1
2
3
4
5
6
......
only 6

the answer to their questions
-Financial Problems
-Peer Influence
-Vices
-Family Problems

I shared a little speech to motivate them
"Nothing is impossible with a  person with perseverance,
struggles is inevitable, it will make us strong.
instead of giving up, make a goal and work hard to earn it"

they listen to me very well
I dont really have listeners whenever I talk
and seeing them listen attentively
makes me more powerful and careful
because
they might remember me and my words
so if there's something that I have to say or tell them
it should be something
they will use and remember forever..

im not really a terrorist teacher..

Im not like
SIT UP STRAIGHT and LISTEN TO ME

I dont even make them stand up when they answer my questions
Im a democratic teacher...
I just make sure everyone answers the question

Realization #1
trust me...if you were like me in front of the class
you'll know every concerns of the students
many of my students would laugh...and you'll notice it right away
even those who use cellphones during class...
and even the letters they sent to their seatmates

student again!

If you are a lost nurse and you dont know where to go?
I told you there's lots of opportunities not just in the hospital

I have crossed this info in the internet, that the educational system
of the Philippines will change
from 10 years of elementary and Highschool
it will become 12 years now..
so I had this deep analysis that they will need then thousands of teachers..

I decided then to study again
I earned 21 units of Education subject (Education Course)
which they call SUPPLEMENTAL...
the subjects are not highly interesting (for me) but definitely essential <LOL>
I encountered theories like (you can cover your ears)

REALISM, IDEALISM, RECONSTRUCTIONISM,
ESSENTIALISM, PROGRESSIVISM and lots of -ISMS

Im eager to finish this course...Im not really a lazy student
so I really study hard...look at my grades

and now Im eligible to take the Licensure exam for teachers
(board exam again)

I just finished the supplemental course in just one semester
(really fast)...just this march 2012

the application is not really that hard...in fact the job was searching for me
while im still studying..that's how IN DEMAND the teachers are here in the philippines

much easier than finding a job as a nurse...(im really bitter dont I?)
well, not for the one who has "BACKER" or a relative from that hospital
just a week or so..you'll get hired..

and so I moved on...
now I got signed...

yeah right! Im a teacher now!

Did I just Betrayed my Degree!?
OF COURSE NOT
Im still a Nurse to everybody
this is just a shift
or maybe an upgrade
or maybe this is my true
calling or destiny..
we will never know
last 5 years ago...I planned to work in the hospital
now Im going to work in a school
TOTALLY DIFFERENT
this is how life made a joke on me..hahhaha

did I mentioned that I did have some friends while we study??

BPO industry for Nurses

Most of my Batch mates...told me this

I once tried to apply for a call center job
this is the events

9am - I arrived at the building.

 * i have no idea about the head hunter.
Until the applicant beside me shared that
they contact applicants and in their office.
Recruiters from different BPO company
sits in small cubicles, you will either be in a panel interview
or its just you whom they will interview*

*the head hunter will provide training and tips on how
to nail your interview...so in one day..you'll be able to be interviewed
by 4-6 recruiters of BPO companies...without the expense of transportation
it will just happen in one office...cool eh???*

the best tips I could give you are the ff:
- bring many resume
- anticipate questions like "tell me something about yourself"
- if inexperienced in this industry..tell them your'e willing to train and learn
- expect essay writing and English exams.

11am - start of interview

1st company (failed the interview)
2nd company (Passed the panel interview)

stage 1 : individual interview (passed, expect psychological questions)
stage 2 : computer exam (passed, testing typing skills, listening skills)
stage 3 : contract signing (read the contract)

the next day you'll be for medical examination expenses by the company
I was hired! yes...they said they'll call me after 2 weeks but I received nothing
then I learned that the account I applied to...backed out
I haven't received the training so the contract was not effective...
the company advised me to go on for another application..
but oh well thanks...but I will go search for something again

To start a New...

I'd like to start a new blog

A blog that will record my Journey
a blog that will capture moments of
triumph
success
failures
opportunities
sadness
Struggles
options
and everything i will encounter

Im a Nurse and still a Nurse
but due to struggles landing a job here in my country
I decided to find my way somewhere
helping to minimize the unemployment rate of this nation.

I am Clai..this is my story

I graduated Bachelor of Science in Nursing
March 2010...one of the most defining moments of my life

I passed the Nursing Licensure Exam on
December 2010...through drowning myself with the heavy books
which i usually neglect during Nursing undergrad dayss

I have received my license on March 2011
and at the same month and year
I was already an IV therapy Nurse.

I was lucky, I got picked in a raffle
out of 600..only 60 will be the lucky nurses
the prize?

a 3 months hospital experience in a government hospital
(a great awesome project of the government to rescue
unemployed nurses)

btw...we were compensated 400/day
you can join the raffle again..but you can see for yourself
if your lucky again...which im not

after the 3 months working..I tried volunteer nursing
I lasted 3 days...my first day was awful
no orientation, unorganized system
some mistakes, 12 hours working
I quit...and looked out to some possible jobs related to my course
